Netherlands 20
2020 was due to be our 10th consecutive trip to The Netherlands, with a stay at Vakantiepark Koningshof, not far from Katwijk, followed by a week at Duinrell with friends and family. Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic put a stop to that.
Rather than dwell on what might have been, I took the opportunity to look back at our previous trips, going back a long time before I started the blog. This series starts with my first time in The Netherlands, on a school trip to Maastricht in 1989, and goes on to our first time at Duinrell in 2012, our return in 2013, and our two trips in 2014, including a camping trip around Castricum and Duinrell.

Netherlands 20
Rather than dwell on what might have been, I thought I'd take the opportunity to look back at our previous trips to The Netherlands, going back a long time before I started the blog and was really aware of transport cycling as a thing.

2012
2012 was our first time driving over to The Netherlands with our bikes and our first time at Duinrell. We'd decided there was more of the country we wanted to see and thought staying at a holiday park would be the best option.

2013
In 2013, we returned to The Netherlands for our second trip to Duinrell. We'd been there in September 2012 and really enjoyed it, so we were really keen to return and see more.

June 2014
In 2014, we returned to The Netherlands twice, in May/June and August. We'd been to Duinrell the previous two years in 2012 and 2013 and loved it, so we knew we wanted to return.

August 2014 (Camping Geversduin)
This was our second trip to The Netherlands in 2014, we'd already been in June, spending a week at Duinrell. This time though, we were camping, staying at three different sites, two in Castricum, North Holland and at Duinrell.

August 2014 (Camping Bakkum)
This was the second leg of our August 2014 camping trip, staying at Camping Bakkum. The first leg we stayed at Camping Geversduin, which we really enjoyed.

August 2014 (Duinrell)
This was the last leg of our August 2014 camping trip, staying at Duinrell. The first leg we stayed at Camping Geversduin, which we really enjoyed. The second leg we stayed at Camping Bakkum, which we didn't enjoy quite as much.
