There was a great turnout for the Manchester Big Ride, calling for clean air, healthy streets and more cycleways from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, the mayoral candidates and our local authorities.

People of all ages and backgrounds joined the ride and there was a wide array of cycles, with many mums and dads eyeing up the range of family-friendly bikes people had brought along.

Starting at Platt Fields Bike Hub, we rode along the almost complete Oxford Road cycleway to Albert Square. Although not perfect, the new cycleway shows what can be achieved when there’s the will and relatively modest sums of money.
So join the call for clean air, healthy streets and more cycleways!
