Netherlands 15: The route to Leiden

Leiden is a university city about 20km north of The Hague and about 10km away from Duinrell by bike. The route from Duinrell is a great example of Dutch bike infrastructure, with most of the route being on segregated cycle paths away from the road. The points at which you have to share the road are generally pretty quiet and you can expect to see very few cars.

Netherlands 15: Around Duinrell

The second week of our recent trip to The Netherlands, we spent at Duinrell. This was actually the fifth time we’ve stayed at Duinrell in one form or another, in the last four year, so as you can probably guess, we’re big fans! We’ve also persuaded a number of friends to go there, who on the whole have loved it.

Netherlands 15: The route to Wassenaarse Slag

While we were staying in The Hague, we had friends staying at Duinrell for the week. Given it was a nice day, we decided to head on over to the beach, and as we were equipped with bikes, we headed to Wassenaarse Slag, which is about 4km from Duinrell and about 14km from where we were staying in The Hague.

Netherlands 15: Around The Hague

This was our seventh trip to the Netherlands as a family, we’ve been there a number of times before kids too. Previously, we’ve stayed with friends in Amsterdam, camped in a number of the large European style campsites and Duinrell. This was our first time staying in The Hague, where we chose to spend the first five days of our trip.
