More from Stretford-on-sea (Kingsway) – February 2024

Following on from last month’s update, some more from the transformation of Kingsway, Stretford as the work continues.

Now it seems the new sun loungers have been getting some attention, so I had to try them out while I was there. I have to say I think they’re fantastic! I enjoyed a relaxing few minutes on a Sunday morning, putting my feet up and watching the world go by. All we need is a bit of sun and an ice cream!

While enjoying the sun loungers, there was a steady stream of traffic on the westbound side that remains open. It was at least pleasing to see the traffic was going at a very leisurely pace. I hope this remains the case when the work is complete!

Passing Pinnington Lane, I was reminded of my previous suggestion for a Victoria Park Low Traffic Neighbourhood (LTN). It would be fantastic (though probably highly unlikely) if this was to happen and priority was given to people over cars across all of Stretford.

Imagine if it was safe to walk through the rest of Stretford, without having to worry about rat running cars on streets like Derbyshire Lane.
